ABOUT US

Highwire Electric is a locally-owned, small business in Atlanta, GA that specializes in residential and commercial electrical service, repair, and installation. Our company stands by our community and firmly believes in the right to safe and adequate housing.

As part of our commitment to our neighbors, we perform discounted and free electrical services as often as we are able. Unfortunately, we are a small business and there is a great need in the Atlanta area for assistance with electrical emergencies. As a result, we ask that you read the following guidance to help us best use our resources and outside funding as we assist clients in need.

Upgrades for Low-Income Homeowners

For non-urgent home upgrades and repairs, check out Rewiring America for information on credits and incentives for electrical work. There are many new and exciting opportunities for low-income families to get federal funding and tax rebates to help make their home safer and more efficient. Highwire Electric is currently evaluating program opportunities and evaluating options for pairing these federal incentives with sliding scale fees and other options in 2023-2024. We encourage you to reach out to us so we can help you plan for electrical projects where funding might be available.

How to Get Assistance

We are working towards creating a formal process for customers who would like to apply for low-cost, sliding scale, or pro bono services and potentially a tax-deductible donation process for those who would like to assist in this mission.

In the meantime, we cannot accept donations. Our services and materials, even when provided for free, are not tax-deductible for our company or our clients. While we occasionally coordinate with non-profits and volunteers, in most cases we pay for no/low-cost repairs ourselves. As a result, our availability is currently quite limited.

For Emergencies and Urgent Electrical Needs

If you are in need of immediate assistance, please contact us and we will be happy to provide resources or assist directly if we are able. These services are subject to availability. Qualifications and priority for low/no-cost services include (but are not limited to) the following: 

• Emergencies such as: 

• Power outage due to storm damage or another natural disaster 

• Interior fires/floods

• Theft, vandalism, or other criminal/discriminatory acts which damage your home and your access to electricity

• **PLEASE NOTE** For emergency calls and repairs, we will ask that you first contact your home insurance provider if available and attempt to secure payment for services.

  • We may be able to accept delayed payments when waiting for insurance reimbursement (subject to pre-approval by our office, unless approved all payments are due per the terms of our estimates/service agreements). 

• Disabilities and medical conditions requiring electronically powered equipment

• Ex. Medications which require refrigeration, respirators or equipment requiring electricity to function, stair lifts for those with limited mobility, etc. 

• You DO NOT need to disclose confidential medical information to receive services. We will need only information on specific electrical needs so we can create a plan to help you. 

• Commercial services for non-profit organizations serving the public interest
